Corriere del Ticino

Organising information to turn it into shared knowledge, with Microsoft Viva Topics.

Moresi.com has been working for a long time with Corriere del Ticino Group – the first multimedia group in Italian Switzerland, which includes the newspapers Corriere del Ticino, Radio3i, Teleticino and Ticinonews.ch – as a partner for the implementation of Microsoft solutions.

After supporting the group in its migration to Microsoft 365, Moresi.com has recently developed a pilot project for the organization of the documental heritage of the entire IT department of Corriere del Ticino, using the functionalities of Microsoft Viva Topics, one of the modules of the new Microsoft Employee Experience platform.

MICROSOFT VIVA TOPICS

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to organise content and experiences.

Corriere del Ticino Group relied on Moresi.com’s expertise in Microsoft 365 to implement a solution based on Microsoft Viva Topics in order to organize and make available to the organization’s members the vast documental heritage recently migrated to SharePoint.

The solution has enabled all employees to find and use the information they need effectively, reducing time and facilitating the work of the entire team. The pilot project developed with Moresi.com for the IT department of Corriere del Ticino, has brought numerous benefits in this sense, and can be extended to the whole organization.

A high-performance Kubernetes Cluster, secure and in proximity. Given this situation, the need for SUPSI's ISIN was hence to create a high-performance, safe, and reliable Kubernetes Cluster to be made available to its internal team of developers, so that the latter could focus their efforts mainly on development activities, leaving out infrastructure issues.

ISIN also needed to implement it inside an infrastructure located on Swiss territory and in proximity, this for internal policy reasons, but also to overcome more expensive and usually less high-performing solutions. This was all trying to limit cost and time, especially in relation to other options that were possible.
THE SOLUTION THE CHALLENGE CONCLUSIONS
A redundant on-premise architecture with Azure Stack HCI. The solution implemented by Moresi.com leveraged the power of Azure Stack HCI and Azure ARC to create a dual-node redundant on-premise infrastructure. Moresi.com provided and configured the necessary hardware (through a partnership with HPE, Hewlett Packard Enterprise) and managed the implementation and configuration of the Azure Stack HCI cluster and Kubernetes applications clusters.

In this way, Moresi.com was able to quickly deliver to ISIN a development environment, for the deployment and management of containerized applications based on both Linux and Windows. By connecting with Azure through Azure Arc, the SUPSI ISIN team can now monitor and manage infrastructure resources (storage, network, etc.) and application resources (pods, nodes, etc.) in an automated way, directly from the Azure portal.

The architecture that has been created, in addition to being constantly updated, is also fully scalable: in fact, it is possible to scale up or down by adding or removing nodes to the Kubernetes cluster, but also to possibly transform it into a hybrid solution, thanks to the connection to Azure mentioned previously.
THE SOLUTION THE CHALLENGE CONCLUSIONS
Conclusions Moresi.com's competencies in infrastructure and Azure enabled ISIN to achieve the desired result, with the creation of a Kubernetes Cluster that met all the requirements: redundant, in Swiss territory, fast and high-performing but also economic, scalable and easy to manage.

"Thanks to this infrastructure," says Tiziano Leidi, director of SUPSI's Information Systems and Networking Institute, "we can now unleash the potential of our developers to create applications that can best meet the needs of the university, students, faculty and all parties involved in our organization's processes.
THE SOLUTION THE CHALLENGE CONCLUSIONS

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to organise content and experiences.

THE CHALLENGE

After the switch to Microsoft 365, the IT department of Corriere del Ticino started using Sharepoint as a shared repository for storing its documentation.

However, that large mass of documentation, which included project documents, procedures, licences, manuals and other technical documentation, needed organisation: it was accessible to everyone, but difficult to consult.

The lack of a reasoned structure made searching and sharing complex and time-consuming.

THE SOLUTION

Faced with this need to rationalize, Moresi.com proposed to Corriere del Ticino’s IT department to exploit the potential of Viva Topics, the Microsoft Viva module that allows to automatically organize contents and skills, helping the organization’s members to find them easily.

Initially, a precise taxonomy was defined together, and a standardised nomenclature applied to the files, after which everything was literally “fed” to Microsoft Viva’s artificial intelligence. Viva organised all of the documents into Topics, making them available and searchable in the CDT Topic Center, which is integrated into SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, Viva also creates relationships between documents. Anyone researching a topic in the Topic Center can view a detailed topic sheet with all the information related to that topic.

CONCLUSIONS

By using Viva Topics, the entire IT department of Corriere del Ticino has been able to organise all its documentation in an intelligent way and make it available to the entire organisation.

Thanks to Viva Topics, every document, and all the information related to it, can be easily and immediately found by anyone, at any time and in any place.

When all employees can find and use the information they need effectively, reducing the time and facilitating the work of the entire team, it becomes a key factor in the success of the organisation.
