The EU-US and Switzerland-US Privacy Shield Framework Agreements – signed by the US Department of Commerce, the European Commission and the Swiss Federal Administration – were drafted to provide European and American companies with a mechanism to comply with data protection requirements when personal data are transferred from the EU or Switzerland to the US.

Microsoft has voluntarily adhered to the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield agreements and has publicly committed to the principles of the agreement by self-certifying its compliance with its requirements.

Microsoft’s participation in the Program covers all personal data processed and transferred to the United States from the European Union, the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, and includes all of the following cloud services:

– Azure and Azure DevOps
– Dynamics 365 MT and GCC
– Intune
– Microsoft 365
– Power BI cloud service, standalone or included in an Office 365 plan or product family
– Professional services
– Windows 10 and Windows Server
